Summary | 0018557: Glaring lack of item variety in playthroughs despite existing range/not enough weapon drops | ||||
Description | I've noticed this in several playthoughs, as well as a couple of people have anecdotally reported a big lack of variety in items. There are several pieces of evidence to note: 1) When a player opens a locked chest, normally a consumable appears. However, there are situations in which one finds the same item every time, e.g. tactical nukes or miniature blackholes on a floor. This is usually a case of RNG, but it may also point towards something where the item pool for a floor may be bugged, or only have <5 types to choose from. - Suggestion 1: The is more important - allow weaker equippables to drop inside chests to make the key use more competitive with shops. Examples include a shot drone, starting weapons for other mechs, and alternate missiles launcher side-grades (did you have a mini-missile launcher?). - Suggestion 2: Make it non-pure RNG, and ban the drop of more than 2 in a row, or the same item in a row. 2) In several *recent* playthroughs from myself, Misery, and a number of players on various forums, we've been noticing a relative lack of weapons. Given that's there's a lot of them, they should be made more available or more obivous. - Suggestion 1: Again, put the less powerful ones in chests. Also, increase the variety in the hidden chest room to 3 or 4, rather than 2 or 3. If the player has to choose only 1, then it's no problem giving them more choice out of the existing range. (E.g. if 4 items are available, make 2+ of them equippables). - Suggestion 2: More important, revert the change where shops are not able to spawn linked to another shop, and spawn bonus shops in later floors. I've noticed in cash-focused playthroughs (4x drops through level up and sacrifice shop) that I'm maxing out on cash with nothing to spend it on on floors 4 and 5. This will help increase the spawns. | ||||

A HUGE number of changes relating to all this is going into 1.008. Please let us know if it doesn't feel good in 1.008 yet, and we may need to do more. |
