Description | They are currently slow, though not much below Missile Corvettes. Their range is pathetic, meaning they have to be almost touching something in order to shoot at it, coupled with poor speed means they rarely participate. Damage is incredibly low, a MK4 Ark takes three shots to kill a MK1 Fighter. For something with 9000 Knowledge invested into it, that's very bad. So far I feel like the only Ark worth taking is the Orchid, though even then leave it at MK1. The fact it's a super engineer makes it useful, regardless of everything else. Golems felt the same way, more a burden than a benefit, though Arks are free at least. I'd...at least triple the damage and range. Up the speed to match Missile Corvettes, so they aren't slowing even them down (though it's a minor difference). Health seems alright. Thanatos needs adjusting on the zombifying weapon, as said in a separate report it seems to be more of a downgrade, the damage is too low to actually zombify anything. Voidhome is intriguing but costs too much for just a single docks worth. Orchid is again the only one that seems alright, possibly because it starts with that feature unlike the others. Just...my opinion. I just can't see these things doing much right now, though I'm aware it's their first implementation. | ||||

One thing that is worth noting is that their stats were basically an initial slapped-together test set from Badger. The general concept, and then the framework, were the big things. Once I get the stats-modding stuff in there, hopefully we can make this a lot better as a group. I know you were wanting to mod some specific stats, and that would be extremely welcome, I have to say. :) |

Yeah, this is not intended as real Stats or Balance. I just wanted to get the Ark mechanic working, and Chris (and others) can do the balance. |

Fair enough. What would I do if I get them to an okay level? Put it on the forums or something else? And what would...qualify as an okay level? Something I personally feel is worth using or something else? |

Please wait for the stats revamp or else you won't be able to set values properly. But after that, I'd say just Wild West it and get it where you like. Then we'll go from there as people get a chance to try it out. Nothing like actually trying things rather than on-papering them, particularly when it's easy to change. |

Fair enough. I looked at the Ark stuff and I agree: wait for revamp. I apologise for bringing this up actually, as I should've probably known a lot of the balance stuff are placeholders. I suppose it can be marked resolved, just to get it out of the "things not done" pile. Makes that look a bit better. |

It's probably good to have it on here just so that we don't forget it, and it's always better to bring things up rather than just assume we'll get to it. Often we're waiting to hear just that sort of feedback. :) |

Keep in mind that you don't have to limit yourself to just doing balance with the existing weapons. If you have an inspiration for something different that the Arks can do, give it a try! If it's fun we might keep it. Or if you decide that you prefer Thanatos with the Devourer Golem's gun or with a vampire ability, go for it! |
