Summary | 0020447: Mysterious multiplier on base science/hacking balance | ||||
Description | Was suggested I mantis archive this, so here it is. "Humm...the costs haven't changed really. Just an oddity I've found when poking it. Not...a bug in the sense - a mysterious multiplier, that's all. I think it's possibly a remnant of the Pre Pivot stuff? When planets used to have randomised resources. The base line is as said, 1000 science, and every balance lever works off that. If something costs 0.5 planets worth, it'll be 500. Costs 1.25, it'll be 1250, etc. But the planet gives 2000 in game. So someone modding something might think, it says 0.5 planets worth of science, so it costs 1000 to unlock! But actually it's 500...if that makes any sense. I ran into this when changing the Scout tech costs weeks ago. It's not important, just curious if I could change the science costs into a cleaner form, so someone can just say in XML "this thing costs 500" instead of 0.5 of a planets worth, which everything says is 2000 but is actually 1000...yeah. Just closing as this is probably not really worth bothering with. The current system is a bit odd but plenty usable. |
