Summary0020549: Group Rally Stops Working
DescriptionIn short, it seems like ships will sometimes stop moving towards a group rally point. Ultimately, this results in a control group being strung out over several systems, which then requires the player to go to each system and give them a move order to wherever the control group is currently located. I think it might be related to giving move orders. I.e. I think that if I go and tell control group 1 to move from A to B, then sometimes ships will stop moving. It is definitely inconsistent.

So I have two save games. The first save game, everything is fine. In the second save game, there are a few ships stuck in Abyorman.

OK, so this is interesting. I just reloaded save game 2 to get the name of the system, and more ships are stuck I literally saw them stop moving in Abyorman. So although I know it cannot be purely related to loading a game (it happens frequently while I'm playing), loading the game may give you a reproducible test case.

Is your control group currently in a battle? When doing control group rallies, the rallying ship asks the control group "What is your strongest ship? I'd like to go to that one, since that's probably where most of the control group is". I wonder if having that Strongest Ship killed out from under the rally is breaking things.

It's either that or as you're reinforcing you're still moving from sector to sector, so they stop where the biggest ship was when they were made, but if your space dock is really far from where your fleet is, there will be a large delay from when they reach that location and where your actual position is.

Rally points (all the rally stuff) is completely redone in 0.850 and all seems to work fine! Woohoo!
