Description | That players CAN IGNORE, and which does not replace the intel section of the screen. But let's give the average player a bit more direction. Use that new functionality from tutorials for a missions-based thing in the main game itself, and rework the objectives tab based around that. | ||||

Since the "Help with tutorials, please!" thread (https://forums.arcengames.com/ai-war-ii/from-chris-help-creating-tutorials-please!/) is pretty clear no one wants the same style of tutorial, I think small missions still have their place. They'll cater to people who like to jump in and figure out things. We probably want to go with only three mutually-exclusive missions at once (cf https://forums.arcengames.com/ai-war-ii-gameplay-ideas/research-(also-hacking-which-i-think-of-as-research)/30/). You can set one as the active one, which will display a permanent notification as a reminder. The missions are designed to try and teach you some mechanics in a non-intrusive way. Example mission set at a given moment: Military Officer: Planet X is dangerously exposed. We should at least destroy one adjacent warp gate to prevent AI attack waves from that direction. Complete one of: - Destroy warp gate on Planet A - Destroy warp gate on Planet B - Destroy warp gate on Planet C Reward: 2000 metal. Science Officer: We are low on science points. We can further our research in a sneaky way by hacking a nearby planet for science. Complete one of: - Get 1000 research by hacking Planet A - Get 1000 research by hacking any planet Reward: 2000 metal. Logistics Officer: We are low on energy. Planet Y is in the middle of our territory, let's convert it or another one of your choice to an economic station to be able to support a larger fleet. Complete one of: - Build an Economic Station on Planet Y - Build an Economic Station on any planet. Reward: 2000 metal. Some thought needs to be given to how missions scale, or whether they just stop after the early game. |
