Description | I keep wishing for the ability to have more engineers on a planet, and also to be able to upgrade my metal income. Perhaps we could have science unlocks for those? | ||||

I have not tested this, but: * Added a new category of ship_cap_group for fleet memberships, this one called Civilian. ** Turns out that we just completely forgot to add in the ability to generate more engineers via battlestations and citadels, that that was most definitely supposed to be a thing. ** This won't affect existing savegames, but you should be finding caches of engineers that you can construct along with your battlestations all over the place now in new games. ** The idea isn't to increase the ship cap for engineers on a given planet by adjusting the planet itself (unless you want to change command station type), but rather by which types of stations you put there, and what engineering caps they have. That was always the plan with fleets, but was just a complete oversight. ** The reason for the new Civilian category is so that we can have caps of engineers (and later maybe a mix of something else) that is separate from the OtherDefenses, turrets, and whatever else. Basically to let them not compete with other types of defenses while still being added new. Thanks! |

In terms of metal upgrades... in the earliest versions of AIWC that wasn't really a thing. I kinda liked that. I meant that you had to capture and hold territory in order to have enough to go around. I could see various arguments for making capturable metal harvesters or whatever else that battlestations grant, but I'm not hugely excited about being able to wish for more wishes at the command station with science. I feel like that would be abused a lot. Then again -- I might be wrong. It's certainly the sort of thing we could add in from a mechanical sense once I get a few more things in place. |
