Summary | 0021213: Distinguish between having a fleet selected and having all its units selected in the UI
Description | As I mentioned in issue 21212, there's a difference between having a fleet selected and having all of its units selected: in the latter case new units won't get added to your selection as they're created. It would be nice if, when I select a fleet as opposed to all of its units, the selection box would say "Officer Fleetname" or whatever instead of listing all the units individually. (Maybe with the list of units indented underneath the fleet?)

This functionality actually does already exist, but double-clicking the fleet centerpiece isn't actually doing it. The functionality right now is only triggered when you click a fleet in the sidebar, or when you use the hotkey to activate the fleet. In those instances it actually selects the fleet itself. Though the selection menu doesn't show that the fleet is selected, that's a good idea. If selecting a fleet via those two ways doesn't work as you'd expect, then I'd definitely like to know about it. And double-clicking the centerpiece I'm pretty sure selects the ships, not the fleet, so that's a good call. |

Thanks! * In the UI, if you have selected a fleet directly, rather than selecting just all or some of the units from it, it now shows the fleet itself in the selection window. ** Functionally there is no difference from before, as selecting a fleet would select the fleet as a whole plus any new ships that were inside it, and that is still the case. But now you can visually tell that. |
