My notes:

Resources tend to come and go pretty fast (well, metal does), so direct gifting has never been on my list of really valuable things. It's a lot easier to gift a specific unit, but even there with the new fleets system I don't think we'll be able to easily do something like gifting one resource generator out of a planet-full. I guess we COULD, but it would be janky. So perhaps instead we'll wind up with some sort of "here's the metal flow per second I'm gifting you," or the same for energy generation. I agree that resource generation is a good thing to share in those cases, and making it simple and something that is ongoing (that you can adjust as needed) seems like the best plan.

The most obviously useful thing in that area is automatically gifting your metal overflow to your allies once your storage is full. I don't know if AI War 1 did that, but it feels like something that should be enabled by default, and not even an option.
