Summary | 0022982: Excessive CPA? Diff9, 900str at 88 AIP
Description | Somehow I got a 877 Strength CPA at 88, two hours in, versus a Difficulty 9 AI against an Adaptative Moderate currently as a Fortress Baron. Isn't that excessive? Waves similarly jumped to 200 Strength. From others games I think it should be in the hundred strength at this state rather than two hundreds. I get confused anyway by CPA. How is its budget calculated anyway? It vary in odds with that doesn't seem quite related to AIP.

Basically the AI has income based on AIP. It's allocated differently for each AI type, and some change how certain amounts of AIP is allocated. I.e Tsunami has the first X of AIP mostly defensively (despite the name), the next X of AIP would be allocated very offensively, and the like. It's built up over time, so you could be at 10 AIP, and get a wave of some size. You could be at 10 AIP for a while, then go to 30 AIP, and the wave'll be a bit bigger, as it was being funded partially on 10 AIP, and a bit on 30 AIP. You could be at 30 AIP for the entire time the wave was being built up, and it'll be larger than before, as it was entirely funded on that 30 AIP. Same goes for CPA. You can't drop your AIP just before it hits to notably reduce the size. However...doesn't seem to answer the problem. Your AIP log doesn't show really early reduction, but neither was it particularly high for most of this. Even 100 or so shouldn't be enough to cause this. What were the Instigator effects, and do you know what AI type it was before Fortress Baron? Perhaps it was one which allocated heavily into CPA. Did you also happen to cancel any waves, or have a period where no wave seemed to arrive for a good while? |
Previous AI was apparently quadratic between 1h and 2h. Could that be it? (still insanely high for the firt CPA). Instigator was wormholes boosting, so not the problem. No wave were canceled, and in fact in the save I sent, there is a 200 strength wave attacking. |
I would suspect it to be Quadratic then. If I recall I think that AI type has weird interactions with Adaptive right now. |
That's probably it then. Lost the game because 1k total threat attacking at the same time was way too much. Ouch. |

CPAs have been very heavily reworked since this was opened |
