Description | these units combine 1) 11,000 range (more than 90% of fleetships; same as Z beam frigate, close to Deflector drone) 2) compared to units of similar range, an unparalleled shipcap DPS: MK I Spire Armour Rotter; 30,000 to put that in context: MK I deflector shipcap: 28,000 MK I beam frigate shipcap: 3571 (lol! I think these need some love!) they are also 100% armour peircing, making them utterly superior to the two above, and they do 5000 armour damage/ shot 3) Very high speed MK I Spire Armour Rotter 54 to put that in context: MK I deflector: 36 MK I beam frigate: 28 MK I fighter: 38 they also have a normal HP/shipcap (approx 5 million). without even considering their ability, these ships make the best 11,000 range skirmishers in the game. however, they also do 5000 armour damage/shot, which at MK I is enough to de-armour everything but the raid starships instantly. oh noo! Suggestion: 1)armour damage 5000--> 50*MK (25 armour DPS, a single armour ripper taking a fighter to 0 in 6 seconds and a flagship to 0 in 80 at MK I) 2)speed 54--->36 3)range 11,000 ---> 6,000 4)[attack: 1200 reload: 2] to [attack 700 reload: 2] (they are 100% armour peircing and provide a powerful utility) this puts them at 17,500 DPS/shipcap @ MK I | ||||

I agree with the speed and range being too high, am nerfing those (roughly as suggested). The armor damage is intended to be pretty absolute, it's basically a "bring enough of these and the enemy has no armor" thing. I'm not sure why the dps seems unparalleled to you :) About 58k vs non-bonus, about 117k vs bonus. Fighter gets 58k/141k. The armor piercing makes it superior, obviously, but that's the other point of the unit. Beam frigates haven't been rebalanced yet, fyi. One question there is "how many targets should a beam frigate have to hit with one shot to have the same dps as a fighter?". 2? 10? 40? And the hp-at-cap is about 2/3rds of any of the triangle types. Which is normal, as you say. |

Ah, right, sorry ;) Yea, the range was excessive for a ship with other specials. Raptors actually had more range and higher dps. Zenith Bombards too. And Sentinel Frigates, but they need a nerf anyway (I was undervaluing sniper range). Spiders and Missile frigates are about the only other fleet ships with ranges out that far. They were significantly lower on base dps but higher in bonus dps. But anyway, I get it :) |

yes sentinel frigates are defo overpowered atm I dont know about bombards |

Bombards at least die easily (or at least did, last time I saw them), whereas having upwards of a million HP each makes sentinels really difficult to deal with in AI hands. But that's for another thread, I think. Even though I've never used these, just looking at the stats I'd probably say a damage nerf is in order, because with their armor rotting ability they are going to dramatically increase your fleet's overall damage, especially if you have a lot of non-armor piercing ships (space planes come to mind). |
