Description | Because the hunter fleet increase scales with AIP as well as the amount of Scourge/MDCs/Marauders/etc., as soon as you start trying to kill the AI homeworlds they start getting massive amounts of dire guardian spam that makes it nearly impossible to kill more than one AI. Hunter fleet gain against MDCs, allies, etc., allies shouldn't be scaled based on AIP at all, it should be entirely based on how scary your allies are and how much the AI wants the MDC back. In the first example save, test1, I've got Scourge allies and 1 MDC at 211 AIP; there are 3 difficulty 7 AIs. The threat buildup is high but manageable; I've hack-watched the AI homeworlds so we can see the threat buildup. In the second example save, test2, immediately after I take out one AI and spike up to 385 AIP, the remaining 2 AIs start spamming dire guardians. My allies aren't any scarier, the MDC isn't reducing AIP any more than it was previously, but the amount of threat the AI is dedicating to kill them has increased massively. If you then scrap the MDC on Meji, increasing AIP by 90, the AI immediately stops spamming dire guardians and the game is now winnable again. You're just dealing with the regular AI defenses rather than having to fight through a firehose of dire guardians as you approach the AI homeworld. In the current state of the game, it's better to just scrap MDCs and eat the +30 total AIP rather than hold them. | ||||

AIP-related anti-mdc hunter ship generation will be decreased by a factor of 10 in the next patch (2.084, not out yet). Please let me know what you think. |

I also fixed another bug in the bonus-hunter-fleet-ships code that was causing the AI to generate way more ships than they should. |
