Summary | 0023539: a few AI related ideas
Description | So I've been thinking about a few ideas for the AI: 1: A split personality type based upon dissociative personality disorder (formerly known as multiple personality disorder). The AI would only have one homeworld, but would have multiple AI types split across each planet. One planet could be a turtle planet while the other could be a golemite planet, etc. Perhaps the amount of personality types it chooses from varies based upon its intensity? 2: The ability to adjust an AI's presence when faced with multiple AIs. I feel like it'd be neat to be able to adjust the number of planets they control instead of it always being an even split. I imagine scenarios like "the main AI is a difficult opponent, but stay away from that level ten in the corner", or even allying with a smaller, weaker, AI in order to take down a more powerful one. 3: Very specific AI voice triggers. I feel like it would be neat to have lines that the AI says only under specific circumstances. Like maybe upon losing a planet to drones or autobombs or something it says "Was that an automated ship? You realize that technology gave rise to ME, right?" Upon capturing a lone spire on a run with the fallen spire it says "I've defeated hundreds of those at once. A single vessel means less than nothing." Upon defeating an overlord in a multiple AI game it has a chance of saying "There are thousands of Overlords spread across the universe. This war will never end." and other such lines. I realize that adding more means recording more, but I feel like it'd be a neat addition at some point. I feel like there were more ideas. I'll edit it if I think of them.

Well, the full ensemble is kinda trying to be option 0000001 already with a large diversity of ship types across its planets. In general at game start, each planet picks a certain set of ships/guard posts that it's going to use for that game, so an AI type that uses a lot of different units like Fully Ensemble will already have a variety of different sorts of planets. AI Types like the Turtle or Special Forces Master are differentiated by how they spend their resources (like X% to Waves, Y% to Warden Fleet), so having a single planet belonging to a Turtle or a Special Forces Master doesn't really make sense. |
|
I was envisioning more like clusters of a few planets, so it's like a bunch of mini AIs serving one homeworld, but I guess you're right. Would an AI type that varies more extremely than full ensemble work? Or would that just be the same as adjusting the difficulty? What about idea 2? |
|
I don't think something like that is in the cards, but DLC2 will have some control over how AI planets are allocated |

Alright, thanks. With that feature you mentioned, and using multiple AI of the same type and one different, I can achieve the same effect. |
