Summary | 0023832: Higher speed settings mess up ship endpoint locations + rubberband
Description | When the speed is higher, the ship spread tends to also be higher. It's not even just multiplied by speed, sometimes it's fine and sometimes it's really far. They'll also sometimes try to settle in formation twice, doing a kind of rubber band bounce. Will try to get a good screenshot.

In this screenshot I clicked where the ark is. Everything else moved and stopped as you can see here. |
As a general rule, save games that can be used to reproduce the problem and instructions for what to do are very useful. Something like "Go to planet X and issue orders like Y". |
Definitely would be helpful on that front. |
Actually, come to that, which speed settings you're referring to would be helpful. I haven't seen this with the "plus key" type of speed multiplier, but maybe there's something new in there or only in multiplayer. If you're referring to a lobby setting (galaxy option) for speed, maybe there's a separate bug in there. Or I have just been blind on seeing this in some other way! |
It was in game speed setting, the one you change at the bottom left with turtle/cheetah options. I was running 2.5x, but generally higher is more issues. It doesn't seem to be particularly reproduceable other than issuing move orders a lot since it happens infrequently outside of really large fights, but here's a later autosave of the game I was playing when I thought to report. This was in single player. Occasionally the rubber band would have a ship go across the map before coming back. |
And by more issues I mean the spread gets worse, I don't know if it gets more frequent, just that when it does break it seems to break worse. |
Logistics stations also seem to make the problem radically worse. Or maybe the station speed bonus is the root cause. I'll see if I can notice it happening on enemy planets. |
It does happen on enemy planets as well, but seeming only for really high speed ships like daggers or velociraptors. |
