Summary0023876: Threat clumps together
DescriptionThe threat for my save has been acting strangely; it basically gets "stuck" on the homeworld (as well as a few other areas) and doesn't budge for anything, despite there being an overwhelming advantage in its favor. I've tried everything I could think of, including bolstering its hunter budget and inducing a new CPA, hoping to get things moving, but nothing worked.

I think the save really speaks for itself, none of the HW threats are pinned down by anything significant.

The problem is there's threat on these homeworlds that's required to go after other AIs, and you are in the way. So they're choosing not to do anything rather than go after you.

I'm leering of changing this because of people inadvertently getting between two enemies and getting smashed by the results.

Chris, the AI can generate threat that's required to go after certain factions (for example, in an AI civil war). What do you think should be done when the AI can't actually get to those factions?

I'm very hesitant to let threat against other factions attack players, even if that seems the optimal thing, since I think that will be reported as a bug.

I'm thinking they can either barrel through like an astro train, not really stopping or attacking until they get to their enemy, or maybe make a threat ceiling of some sort to prevent it from getting stupid.

The AI could recall war forces and send an oversized wave again the minor faction instead from a warp gate near the minor faction.
