| Description | To make things more accessible for a new beta tester, I would like to suggest putting a checkbox option on the final page of the updater to open the changelog at http://www.arcengames.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=AI_War_-_Current_Post-4.000_Beta . Additionally, it's poor form to have a question next to the checkbox, it should just say "Start AI War: Fleet Command now." | ||||

The updater is a specific other piece of software that we can't dynamically update with each release. |

The updater can't be updated? How painfully ironic. They're still valid improvements for the next version of the updater though. |

No. Windows permissions get in the way. And, the updated itself isn't something I like to muck with for stability reasons, even beyond that. These problems are familiar to anyone writin updaters for apps. Even if I could do it, it would add a lot of extra work for very marginal benefit. We aren't lookon for busywork; we have more than we can do already. thus for low-value activities, we try to cutthrm or make them as fast as possible. There's a whole class of suggestions that just don't hold any appeal for us because almost nobody really wants them that much, and they add a lot of unneeded work for us. This falls very much into that category for me, due to the technical challenges and the general idea of it. There have been more suggestions than we could do in another solid year of work, and they keep coming in all the time. So I just can't entertain stuff like this. Hope that makes sense. |
