Description | Got my first 'serious' fuel testing in, consisting of taking a handful of system in a difficulty 7 game, seeing where the first inflection point is, etc. With current starting fuel levels I can take a few systems without feeling a crunch but not enough to have a game-winning fleet. I think the 500k point is at least in right general ballpark. Zenith Power Generators are way too strong - 900k energy is OP on it's own, but with 1.3M fuel added on they are just too much. I recommend knocking them them down for now as a first step to 150k argon/radon, 250k xenon. I would also boost major fuel stations to about 200k and eliminate the minors. I'm not even entirely sure a ZPG should provide any fuel, I think it's worth considering having them be energy only and just getting fuel from the major stations. The idea of having a 'Nexus' station that has more overall fuel but less of each I think is still valid. I.e. 100k of each kind or in that range, while majors are at 200k for a single type. I think we are halfway from the 'concept' stage to being in the right general range of how much fuel is available in the galaxy (still too much right now), but as for me personally I can see the potential of getting it 'close to right' from where we are. I am really excited that it feels to me that you need to go looking for fuel at close to the right moment. Next stage IMO is getting it to where the mid-end game periods are more in line.
If anything the 500k might be a little high, but I think it may well end up in the 350k-400k mark ... I'm ok with it being a little high right now until balancing gets further along. Tightening it up later makes more sense to me.
I should also add that the Nexus idea opens up another hacking option - I think I mentioned this back in the planning stages, but hacking to switch one type of fuel to another if you need more/less of a certain type. |
