Another suggestion put out there by CRC; FRS ships could start off at a lower mark, but have the ability mark up via Expatriate. If this was done I think we'd probably want to eliminate/reduce the AIP cost since we're saying you should invest science in them also. I don't care if we want to go this way or not, and it's something that could probably be tweaked later. The fleet bonus part is the key aspect. |

That was once the conversation went towards them being boosted non-standard versions of the ships that don't grant fleet bonuses. But would as a theme be variants cooked up by other forces, and thus under the auspices of Expatriate tech. And indeed AIP costs would be very low if we went that route. I'd think around 2 or 3 AIP. Since the line would be larger counts than usual ARS options on top of being a special variant. |

Why not just remove the FRS from expert mode? There's only so much we'd be losing from that, and it's simpler. Or are you taking general implementation on this, CRC? You had mentioned parts of this previously. |

Thanks!
* New galaxy option under Balance, Human Balance: Disable Fleet Wide Bonuses
** Ships from the Fleet Research Station (FRS) are powerful ships that also give a bonus to the rest of their fleet. In Expert mode and above, this is judged to be too powerful. Therefore, they still are a powerful ship line in and of themselves, but they no longer give a bonus to the rest of their fleet.
** Untested, but should work. |
