Summary0002697: Scavenger
DescriptionThe Scavenger is a mid-powered fighter. As it damages enemies it builds up BP, once it has enough it spawns a junkball. Junkballs are fast kamikaze ships that can only attack large targets (like the Bomber Starship does). Scavengers can be used to bombard dangerous ships with Junkballs from outside artillery range by engaging weaker enemies in the same system. Junkballs expire after a few minutes and act as zombies but still last a decent amount of time because the Scavenger has to hurt enemies to produce them. Attacking high HP targets to build Junkballs would just make the Junkballs ram directly into that high HP target so I don't think the viral shredder + high HP problem would appear here.

No idea if Junkballs should be able to hurt forcefields but I'm inclined to say yes.

Cool, sort of like a heavier duty version of the spire blades, except you have to work to get your junk-balls.

Agreeing with TechSY here. Sort of a viral cutlass + blade spawner.
I would make the junkballs like Rams in that they self-damage in their attacks (so they get off only one attack) and have high HP/armor with low self-attrition (30-60 second lifespan).

The 10 seconds on the blade spawner is just too short; 90% of the blades die before ever reaching their target because they can't mid-course correct.

Do you still have this problem with the blades now that they have a speed of like 2000 or something?
