Description | Currently the triangle ship pricings are as follows: Fighter: Cheap! Bomber: Expensive but mandatory Frigate: Expensive Bombers are extremely versatile and mandatory for most attacks so the cost is justified but Frigates lost their role as spec ops post busters (which is now done by bombers as well) and now pretty much only kill fighters and harass approaching units before the Fighters and Bombers get to open fire. Plus the Frigates are slow and tend to get chewed up during hasty retreats. When I choose what to unlock I always go for Fighters and Bombers first because even at higher marks the Fighters remain affordable and you just need Bombers even though they kill your wallet. Frigates? The MkIs do the few jobs they need to do well enough (the AI rarely ever uses Fighters in numbers that could overwhelm a cap of Mk1 Frigs outside of waves and during waves I have additional turrets on my side), going higher will just kill my wallet even more. The artillery role is sooner or later filled by some bonus ship or something else I find in the galaxy (e.g. Golems) which does the job better (usually with longer range) and 10k isn't even that long compared to some regular bonus ships. It just feels like the Frigate doesn't give as much for the resources you throw at it as other ships do. | ||||

Just to have it said, without starting the discussion as seen in the other issue. I always start unlocking mk2 frigates before mk2 bombers and start with unlocking mk2 fighters right after start. I barelly need bombers, I do need frigates. Nerf them in cost and you will make my game a lot easier. It is only mid/late-game that bombers get a larger role in my tactics, but that does not take away from the role frigates have in my game. Edit: Too clarify my stance. You dont use the frigates, and get by just fine, it seems. I do use them, and get by fine. If you nerf them in cost, you AND me will just get an easier game. You because you will end up with larger fleets, me because it simply supports my playingstyle. |

I'm with Red Spot. Frigates may not have great raw DPS, but they do have great range. This range allows them to keep a great kill:death ratio. Missile frigates seem pretty balanced IMO. |

On a bit of a side note, you say you use something else to take over the role of the frigates, that 'something else' you refer to is an option, not everyone has it in their game, nor is it always an option to pick 'frigate replacing bonus-ship'(and what you may unlock conquering ARSs you cant control). |

Frigate crystal cost dropped from 700 to 500 for 5.001. Thats 600 total m+c, compared to 200 for the fighter and 800 for the bomber. I could be persuaded to go lower, just not wanting to throw numbers around too radically. |
