Summary | 0027220: Envious Elderlings tractoring station keepers away is just irritiating
Description | Several times in this game (normal human empire) I've had an envious Elderling drag an entire planets worth of station keepers off of the world they're supposed to be on. Once they're on a new planet, they stay there until scrapped, even if they die and leave remains. It can happen without the player even noticing if the elderling only quickly ducks in an out of a world. You basically have to scrap a million odd metal and rebuild them all manually, only for it to happen again. I feel that this shouldn't happen.

I think Elderlings were primarily designed for use with Necromancer, and that there are a number of ways for humans to mitigate this. ** Don't add Elderlings to the game if you find their behavior highly annoying. ** Don't rely as much on station-keepers if this particular behavior is problematic. ** Deploy station-keepers in a different way (i.e. not on pursuit), so that the dip in-and-out issue isn't a thing. There are a lot of things enemies can do on player planets that require certain counter-measures. I.e. sniper-type units require defenses all the way to the wormhole or defensive fleets/outguard. Paralysis ships can cause havoc with turrets. Space planes and mirages are difficult for turrets to deal with. Plasma guardians can smash forcefields. I don't think annoyances such as this merit changing the behavior of the faction. |

Station Keepers are unable to leave their planet and have a cap associated with that planet, having them removed from there seems like a bug or at least a really faulty interaction. At very least they should be able/forced to return to their home planet after being abducted. |
|
It happens really often late game. Not having station keepers is not always an option either. |

"Station Keepers are unable to leave their planet and have a cap associated with that planet, having them removed from there seems like a bug or at least a really faulty interaction." I don't think it's either one of these. For example: ** Enemy tractor beams can take your ships onto planets you don't have vision of and you simply lose sight of those ships They wouldn't normally be able to go on those planets. ** Taking a planet costs AIP except if it's a Dark Zenith homeworld ** Zenith trader cease-fire in general ** Wormhole invasions bypassing the AI requirement to go through your perimeter worlds ** Pretty much everything the Chromatic Horror is designed to do ** Player can tractor warden ships onto their planets, when Warden are not allowed to enter player-control worlds And so on. There are all sorts of mechanics that interact in potentially unexpected ways. I don't think that's a bad thing. |
|
I don't think station keepers should be allowed to leave the planet they start on. I think this is a bug. |
|
Station-keepers should no longer be dragged to other planets with tractor beams. Untested |
