Summary | 0002741: Artillery golem not obeying attack commands.
Description | The artillery golem is not obeying attack commands. I right click on a guard post halfway across the map with the golem. It instead decides to attack the forcefield guarding the AI's command center. The preferred target does list the guard post in the tool tip, but it fires on the forcefield anyway. Also of note is that the golem starts moving towards the object in question when I right click the object, when it obviously does not need to do so. Perhaps this is related? EDIT: Attaching save file with battle in progress with artillery golem. I tell golem to attack the Command Shield guard post, artillery golem attacks core forcefield instead. EDIT X2: It seems that the artillery golem is refusing to attack said guard post at all. I tell it to attack the warp gate in the system and attacks right away.

All guard posts have Radar Dampening at some range around 7000, meaning you can't attack that guard post from farther away than that range. The golem was moving towards the guard post, but was attacking another valid target until it moved into range, so there's no bugs here. |
Does the artillery golem have radar dampening immunity. If not, that could be your issue. Almost (if not all) guard posts have radar dampening. There is already a suggestion on the bug tracker somewhere to give artillery golems radar dampening immunity. |
Ah, I see. That's probably the problem then. The artillery golem does not have radar dampening immunity, although it seems like it should. |
Although radar dampening was created as a coutner to artillery, I think that artillery golems are sufficiently rare and expensive and have a slow enough firing rate such that giving it to them will not ruin the point of radar dampening. |
