Summary | 0002774: bombers and other startship have problems firing vs legalish targets
Description | currently have noticed bomber starship refuse to target or attack mk 1 zenith beam frigates. there are many other targets that do not have any listed immunity to energy wave that is refuses to target or attack. seige starships have some similar but different targeting issues such as being unable to shoot any mobile target smaller than a starship. please list any other target issues you notice or if you can explain why this is.

Note that bomber and siege starships say that they are unable to hit "fleet ships." That's basically all the mobile ships smaller than a starship, as you noticed. :) |
the note on the bomber starship makes no reference to this. it says its great against things with big hp . fyi i am having a pain of a time killing sentinel frigates mk1 with 1.5mil hp without being able to use bombers on them. if this is a tooltip problem fine correct it but it doesnt say it right now. it doesnt make sense that a starship that is fast and manueverable with such a short range cant shoot anything that matters defensively or offensively |
Okay, the tool-tip for bomber starship and siege starship may need to be updated to explicitly state that they can not hit fleet ships. Though your point does have merit. There are some very "starship like" and "almost starship like" fleet ships in the game (sentinel frigates, electric bombers, almost all of the spire bonus types) that seem big enough to seem like they should be target-able by the bomber and siege starships. EDIT: They are already allowed to hit force-field bearers for a similar reason, so having a small list of fleet ships they can hit does seem to have precedent. |
If a fleet ship has enough hitpoints to be immune to Fusion Cutters, it should be vulnerable to ships that can only hit large ships. Sentinel Frigates (mk2 and up) and Spire fleetships are the biggest offenders off the top of my head. |
@Sunshine That is brilliant! The fusion cutter cutoff immunity cutoff is a great metric for determining which fleet ships should and should not be targetable by bomber starships and siege starships. |
