Summary | 0002792: condensed forcefield line
Description | i was thinking i like how large forcefield shrink with damage. however there are situation where i do not want a shield to protect a huge area. my ideas is to have a compressed forcefield that has a smaller boundry in order to maintain a harder shell and prevent the compression of the current forcefields. the short health of tractor turrets tend to lead them to need to be shielded. however their short range leads to them needing to be in formation with turrets that dont want to be under the shield. this might be a line that doesnt go to mark 3 or be a mark 3 variant that requires mark 2 shields first. this way they could be high hp and when they pop they just go poof. i also would think that to prevent their abuse on command stations that when they pop they should actually go boom and damage the things that were under them. basically you are introducing an instability to keep them short ranged but it means that they overload when destroyed rather than fading out like normal shields.

Regular turrets have like 10k range, there should be enough room to place them outside the forcefield. |

Its not just about the forcefield or turret ranges its about the required field of fire for the tractors being so short and needing to be protected while still under the multiple types of turret. not very many have a 10k range actually. and when your type 2 or 3 forcefield is range 10-30k it defeats the purpose by nerfing the power of the turrets. as an added thought i realized the other way to handle this would be to have short area tower that would give units near it immunity to forcefields. but would have to change it so that units immune to forcefields would not be protected by them as well as not having damage reduced by them.(could be done either with a buff or with a spot check). |
