Ideally you'd be able to influence the religion in many ways, picking and choosing tenets and organisation structures that suited you, running the whole range from being a benevolent all powerful figure who deigns to answer prayers to one demanding the mass sacrifice of unbelievers and leading the faithful in a crusade against those heretics up in space. Could begin either very covertly by slowly building influence over existing cults/religions or by openly performing feats that could be interpreted as miraculous and building temples to yourself. Either way, going this route would likely include a lot of soft power and propaganda efforts. |
