Description | Unloading a transport which contains both military and non-military units canb e cumbersome. You can unload military ships by type, or all the units, but there's no way to unload only the military ships. When capturing a deep system (i.e. one surrounded by AI), it's useful to send colony ships with the fleet. As a transport may be lost in transit, it's best to divide the ships between the transports, alongside the military ships. It is, however, extremely undesirable to unload the colony ships along with the military. There is no easy way to unload only the military ships. Three possible implementations come to mind: 1. A general "military units" category in the transport's right-click unload menu. 2. Control-click on the unload button unloads military units only. 3. Transports unloaded in hostile territory unload military units only, if they have any. Unloading the transport again when it contains only non-military units will function as usual. Option 3 appears to be the sanest possibility, as it captures the player's most probable intent. If non-military ships came with, they're most likely intended to be released *after* the battle. | ||||

Or you can micromanage your transport loading. Units are unloaded in the same order they are loaded in, so if you load your non-military last and remember to stop the unloading process before any of them pop out, then you can do that too. But yeah. An easy "unload military" and "unload non-military" option would be nice. |
