Summary0003598: Astro Trains do not attack
DescriptionSo I turned on Astro trains this game and at first I was concerned about trains coming through my space. But now, I just ignore them because they do only one thing, and they do that so badly I don't care. This is because they only decloak mines. That's it. They do not shoot at ANYTHING. EVER. They just smile nicely to tractor turrets, grav turrets, reactors, command stations, force fields, fleet ships, starships, colony ships, command stations under construction, Advanced Research Stations, and everything else I've tried to get them to shoot at. If they were any more friendly that be assisting my engineers.

In the attached save, in Tustinna (one of my systems) at the warp point to Answosi is a Mark II Astro Train (I can't recall seeing anything but Mark II Astro Trains btw). Watch as it flies by Tractor, MLRS and Tachyon turrets doing nothing. It also doesn't attack fleet ships it passes or the FF (which I think it should from my read of its stats). All it does is decloak mines and set off a few mines that it passes through.

If it helps, they don't attack in 5.010 either.

EDIT: Oh wait, I'm still using 5.009, not 5.010.

they havent attacked since sometime in 4.0. for trains that do stuff.
Trains that do stuff:
  Regenerator trains- spawn killed units at a random ai planet.
  speed trains- function no surprises
  attack trains shoot nothing but do trigger defense responses with their lowered hp

all trains decloak and trigger mines so that minefield often have a hole in them from the train
