Summary0004568: Region: The Nowhere Lands
DescriptionThis idea might be a little strange in places but roll with me here. I had the idea a while ago and I won't be happy until I get it out there. (even if it's probably not in the style of the game)

The Nowhere Lands
------------------
- A seemingly calm and eerily pretty region that is always a single tile (no clusters)
- A very rare region type that starts appearing at a high level.

- The scenery has a simplistic abstract vibe compared to most other regions.
- The background is always black (or a sort of shimmering black to make it interesting) even in the daytime.
- Trees are made out of glass (see through) and look incredibly simplistic. (Like symmetrical perfectly rectangular branches sticking on each side)

- Enemies are one point of this idea I'm not so sure about. Something abstract but not stark raving mad at the same time (unless you like that), something stealthy and silent like a ninja. (but not a ninja) Give the region a false sense of safety.

- It is possible to find survivors (Wind Towers) in this region.
- It is possible to find settlements in this region.
- This region depends a lot on the lore that shards are made from people who didn't survive the transition.
- The survivors found in these region are different colours (that correspond to the shard types, so that would be blue, white, green, yellow, red, pink/purple) their hair is usually a lighter colour than their skin colour. They have a somewhat faded "not there" appearance and have no pupils in their eyes (all white) Their skin could possibly have a grainy appearance (like they could go "poof" into a shower of energy at any moment)
- The Nowhere Lands protects the people in these regions from disintegrating into shards. (The people here are in the last stages of turning into shards, but remaining in this region halts the process) (I was thinking maybe an illari stone could be doing the protecting instead but I think it would be interesting if it was a magical being besides the illari that was in control in these regions. Plus the game does say the illari stones have their limits)
- This means that recruiting these npcs becomes very difficult, because they just can't survive outside this region.
- Difficult but not impossible. (I haven't really figured this out myself, but I'd like if they joined your settlement as they are and not just become regular humans. (would be a bit boring) So I'd like there to be some process to make them stable in their current form.

---

So there it is, it's not really complete but hopefully it's the start of an idea that might interest people. The whole thing about the shards once being people got me thinking. Sorry that was probably a LOT of reading.

I like the visual theme. Having replayed Secret of Mana recently; it sounds like the Luna Palace of regions, a sort of starry hole in the world. I would favor that just for the looks.
