Summary0005036: Evergreen Forests and Monster Spawns (especially Eagles)
DescriptionAnyone else notice that when a evergreen forest overworld chunk spawns eagles, it spawns WAY too many of them. This may be due to an excessive number of monster spawners that tend to be generated in this type of region. It's just that the eagle's "always fly forward" behavior makes this issue most visible.

Right, it's seeding more of them because I coded it to do so. The eagles aren't much threat if there aren't a ton of them.

All other monster nest types in the forests are seeding the normal percentage of nests, however there is a larger surface area in the forests because of all the platforms, and so that means a higher total number of nests since it's based on a percentage of the number of tiles there.

All is well, don't worry. :)

Well, if the eagles are balanced according to their absurd numbers, I guess that is fine. Though I will quickly tire of the sound of eagle screeches, but that's not a balance issue. ;)

;)

And yeah, I made them balanced based on these numbers. I think of them as being a lot like Buzzy Beetles from Smb3, just without the ability to ride on them.

...ability to ride on them....

MY GOD, make this happen. Tame eagle scrolls are GO!

Heh, unfortunately in this game that really wouldn't work for art reasons -- buzzy beetles are shaped the way that they are for a reason. But, I'm sure we'll have some monsters that you can jump on top of safely at some point; that then gets into moving platforms adjusting your position along with them, etc, which is doable but not yet part of this engine.
