Summary0005065: Slowdown on large settlements
DescriptionWhen you are in either the strategic map or settlement map in a settlement with a "lot" of settlers, the game experiences quite a bit of slowdown, when it really shouldn't be considering the specs of the machine. My main settlement has 109 settlers at the moment, and I'd guess the fps is in the low single digits while on the strategic map or settlement map with that settlement selected. Conversely, if I swap to a different settlement with the standard 3 people, the game is smooth as silk.

DxDiag attached for machine specs, in case it's some specific hardware issue..

Please attach your world.dat, regions.dat, and the Region_X folder (where X is some number) that corresponds to the region containing the settlement in question.

Or just your whole world directory, if it will fit, that would be better.

Once I have it I can do some profiling and see where it's bogging down.

I am able to duplicate this with the settlement in Rley.7z in 0005063.

When I am looking at the same area on the strategic map, I am getting the same number of draw calls, but when I'm in one settlement with 50-some NPCs I'm getting only 30fps or so. When I hit to the next settlement with the little arrows in the strategic map, looking at the same view, my fps jumps up to about 60.

So from what I can tell, this seems to be some sort of CPU-bound thing, not an explosion of draw calls or anything.

Yeah, same thing here, except bumped up to 100 settlers and down to 3 frames per second. Sounds like a bad Big-O somewhere.
