Summary0005471: Unable to cast spells using mouse when inventory is open
DescriptionI get bit by this at least once a session -- I either forget to press 'i' again or miskey it, and end up failing to cast a few spells before I realize the mistake. When it first happened it was really confusing.

Is there a reason to block using spells via the mouse while inventory is open, while allowing 0-9 to cast them?

I get caught out by this one too. I thought it was by design.

The reason for this is so that you can use the mouse to move spells around in your ability bars without casting them blindly.

Maybe pausing it automatically as suggested in 5163 would help, but, I wonder if we'd have just as many issues with folks saying "Why did my game just suddenly pause?" For now, I'll leave this open for feedback and see what others think.

You know the hit target is an inventory item if it is going to be one, right? I think it's safe to have a simple "if it's in the inventory bounding box, don't cast a spell with the mouse, if it's outside, cast the spell"

It is by design. Auto-pause is definitely not an option for any menus, as that would wreck multiplayer. And having it in solo but not multi makes it hard for anyone to play both modes.

In terms of the bounding box of the inventory, it's not that simple. People drag outside of he bounds of the inventory quite routinely, and holding lmb still fires spells. I guess what we really need to do at some point is make it so that during a drag operation the mouse is also disabled.
