Summary0005519: Troop Accelerator costs 10 AIP to kill even after planet capture
DescriptionOnce a planet with a Troop Accelerator has been taken, the device is useless to both the AI and the humans. It should either cost no AI progress to kill at this point or should be killed with the Command Station (and probably incur the AIP cost) the same way the Warp Gate is.

(Alternatively, maybe instead of an AIP cost for killing it, it should be a captureable that does something cool for the human players. Perhaps it decreases ship costs for anything built on the planet? Maybe it bumps up ship caps slightly? Either way, it should come with a hefty influx of AI assaults to balance the benefits.)

Whoops, I seem to have missed the fact that this is also a warp gate that can live in a human-controlled system. Still, I think 10 AIP is a bit steep if it's the only spawner.

you might also have missed that affects neighboring systems not just its own. that is mostly where the 10 aip comes in.

It does? I'm pretty sure I looked for that in its description and didn't see it. (I'd check again, but I'm at work at the moment and can't really fire up the game.)

The premise here is incorrect: the troop accelerator is still very much useful to the ai after you have the planet. It still acts like a warp gate and causes larger waves. Whether or not you destroy it for sure is actually a choice (though most would destroy it most of the time).
