Summary0005521: Light spell: Gamma burst
DescriptionThe gamma burst falls under the category of dangerous spells. It deals massive damage in a wide area with every attack but its use permanently irradiates the room, causing all players to continuously take damage while in it (not enough to kill quickly but enough to be problematic during prolonged exposure, it should be possible to survive even boss fights in irradiated rooms but using it regularly will take a toll on the player's health). Repeated uses increase the radiation level. The spell has no effect in settlements as the Ilari absorb the burst before it can do any harm. Enemies are only affected by the direct attack, the lingering radiation does not harm them at all.

So, its a light spell that will hurt you more than it'll hurt the enemies due to them having resistance to the background effect for some unexplained reason?

Not quite, it's extremely powerful in the direct damage while the radiation doesn't do all that much damage (less than acid water, in any case). However the radiation does wear you down over time if you stay in the room.

I like the idea, and I'm all for more spells of varying types. If anything I'd like to see the mechanic more along the lines of you cast the spell and there is high damage up front in a set radius. Then there could be a residual effect of radiation cloud that lasts for X number of seconds that damages everything in it. I'd love to see the damage over time effects, but I don't believe they should stack.

Not sure why this would be downvoted. I get the feeling there was confusion on how an enemy would take damage from the spell, but I'm confident the developers could handle a new form of environmental damage. One that the enemies wouldn't have a resistance to. Unless they were immune to the spell type in question of course. =P

A radiation cloud effect, now that I would be interested in. I just don't really like the environmental damage effect of the original description, as it would be annoying to kill a boss of some sort (probably of the boss tower mission kind), and then be killed by the room because I was at 4 health and a screen away from the door.

I like it, but I would also make the "radiation" decrease over time, like real radiation does, so that the player doesn't feel like they are "closing off" rooms by using it too much.
