Summary0005750: Auto-pause in menus in single player
DescriptionAs above. I feel like you expect games to pause when you're in menus, and in single-player there's really no reason for it not to. It's not terribly important, but it seems like something that will confuse new players, and it's annoyed to take damage while you're quitting. I'd also suggest auto-pause in the warp menu; considering that you can pause and do it it seems like the game might as well do it for you.

As noted in another thread, and in AI War as well: we don't do this because that then breaks the expectations that build up between playing solo and co-op, making it extremely hard to switch between modes. AI War doesn't pause in its menus either, for exactly this same reason.
