Summary0006429: requesting exo's not being able to spawn from backdoor hacker's wormhole
Descriptionoriginal topic:

http://www.arcengames.com/forums/index.php/topic,9993.0.html

as the title says. My last experience with it was quite... deadly. I was playing co-op with a steam friend, an 8/8 game. One of them turned out to be a backdoor hacker. It was already annoying from the start of the game, but we could manage it so far. about 2 and a half hours ingame when the first exo spawns... right at my partner's backdoor wormhole. The lead ship turned out to be an artillery golem... An early game fleet was not enough to stop an artillery golem before he could destroy his home command. Of course we took revenge but after that we decided it was best to start a new game lol.
I request something to be done lol. Playing with exo's on against a backdoor hacker will make it very very difficult to win, if not impossible so. Perhaps make it so that certain ships can not spawn from backdoor hackers wormholes, like artillery golems (or golems in general), at least for the early game.

Although I have not tried it yet, it should be quite trival to reach EXO waves on even 7/7 that would come though that and destroy the Human Command Station before you can deal with them. Normal waves are fine, as they don't have stacks of Hunter Killers and Golems with one goal in mind. Destroy that command station instantly. I am thinking of trying to do the last step of the fallen spire with an EXO gate at your homeworld, proved you could get that far. It likely is impossible, maybe even to get that far.

probably impossible yes. 7/7 might be doable since you don't get anything worse than spirecraft for a long time, but as soon as the golems and H/K's start to pour out, you're pretty much done for. Especially if the exo wormhole is located at about 10k range from your home command, which is what happened in this particular case

Given the nature of Exo-waves are to be a massive attack that hits your front defenses hard and keeps on going, if they start off bypassing the front lines and are already at your most vulnerable planet(s) then you are screwed, not even Ender could figure a way out of that one.

Ender? I suppose that's an old community member who liked to play crazy games?
I like to play crazy games too now and then... I just can't win them :D

Well I can tell you it isnt impossible at least on lower difficulty. I won a game with a backdoor hacker via the alternate victory condition with both hard golems and hard spirecraft. However I dont remember if I was playing on difficulty 7 or just difficulty 6.

That said I didnt get any early golems in the exos (probably because i only had one HW) so by the time they did turn up I had some fallen spire ships to beat them. Also I did have ALOT of trouble with my first HK (literally, this was my first fallen spire game), losing about 3 times before I realised what was happening, and anouther 2 before I actualy pulled back enough units to deal with it.

Basically though while not easy it was possible and quite fun.

And this is why I don't play against a backdoor hacker ever. Good concept for vanilla games, but add the extra stuff and then being able to spawn directly on your homeworld doesn't seem reasonably defensible.

Holding a former AI homeworld seems far easier (due to warp jammer)

Well I just gave a Backdoor hacker at 9 a try (what I normally play at without handicaps) at +300% for me and -300% to the AI to see how far I could get. The second I dropped the first Spire City, 2 Artillery Golem spawned out of the Backdoor's hackers Exogate and destroyed my Home Command Station despite all my fleet/starships/spire craft/2 of my own golems being there to shoot at them. They don't take that long to kill a Command Station when they spawn in range and I can't get enough firepower to kill them fast enough.

Usage of a ExoGate at a Human Command Station for an Exo attack really need to be capped to a certain ship size. Nothing larger then a Starship. You can't survive anything else.

Wait wait wait...zoutzakje, you're joking about not knowing who Ender is, right? If you aren't joking, go read "Ender's Game" right now. You'll have no trouble finding it via google. I'm serious, don't even reply to this, just get the book and start reading.

Funny enough, I play as Ender in the game. A fitting name for a commander.

I don't see a problem with artillery golems. Force fields still stop their shots, use more force fields. I would be more concerned with enemies whose shots pierce force fields, are there any of those who pose a significant threat? I don't notice all the individual unique ships the AI gets from these because all my exo waves get stopped out by the borders (most of them stopped dead cold before making it across the system).

The Spire finale will certainly be a PITA I wouldn't want to trigger, and multi-homeworld games near impossible without foreknowldge of spawns (can't defend them all). Multi-player games will just have to suffer losing a few homeworlds.

Having not experienced this myself, my first thought is what about making the Warp Jammer CC jam the Backdoor wormhole if it's in an adjacent system?

I'm assuming this would be minimal coding work and so a fix that could be easily implemented.

I'm not sure it is the *correct* fix however, this turns the backdoor hacker from a major threat into a vanilla type AI for 4k knowledge.
