Summary0006592: When at full HP, health orbs return mana
DescriptionThus making you able to spam more attacks at full HP, but as soon as you take damage you go back to normal. Kind of like a Zelda-esque 'sword shot on full hearts' mechanic. Encourages high-quality play whether you have 800 health or 80.

I both like and dislike this idea. This has the potential to make careful glass cannon character even more deadly. On the other hand, it destroys any kind of reserve you might build up (EX: you're in a boss room, killing mobs at full health so when you eventually do get hit, you have orbs to fall back to). It's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure I would enjoy it.

There have been a couple ideas about health orbs pitched recently, including this one the ones i remember off hand are

have them provide mana points at full health,
have them provide enchant points at full health,
increase the number of health orbs dropped as an enchant,

My personal feeling was that it would be a good idea to make all of these head enchants, that way a) the head slot becomes useful as a "health orb modifier" slot, and b) you would get to pick your choice of the mechanics, all of which would have there time and place.

Maxwell says exactly what i think about this aswell.

Also, how would this work out if your companion's health is low, but your health is full and your mana lower?

"sorry, i need the mana more than you need the health" wouldn't exactly make a happy thought if your companion dies shortly after.

Prioritize healing everyone first? Seems pretty simple.

I've had some time to think this over, and i think i know what is really bothering me about this idea.

If you are playing balanced, or high hp/low mana, this is a nice bonus to your mana, and if you get hit you'll be just "ah, i've taken some damage, and now there aren't any spare health orbs present to heal me back up, but no big deal i have plenty of health left anyhow"

But if you are playing a Glass Cannon (low hp/high mana) you don't need the extra mana that much, and if you get hit its suddenly a very big portion of your health that is now not being healed up, putting you at a pretty big disadvantage with no real gain.

While the head enchants could work, it would be problematic when teaming with someone who has it on, especially when they dont even realise that you are playing a glass cannon.
So that would require communication (not inherently a bad thing i suppose).

All in all, i don't want to have it happen as part of basic gameplay.
Head enchants i'm iffy about, but could work.

I guess I don't understand the play style that builds up a cloud of extra healing orbs as a safety net. I generally only leave orbs hanging in the occasional random room when I'm exploring buildings. In a boss fight the time and mana I would spend killing enemies for 'backup health' always seems to be more efficiently applied to attacking the boss itself. I've never seen a use for orbs left floating in the air, which is why I was hoping they could be used for something different.

Actually, i don't inherently kill them for 'backup health' as just to avoid receiving damage from them (and since i use attacks that pass through enemies for this purpose, its 2 for the price of one when i also hit the boss at the same time).
