Summary0006784: Getting Stuck In Monsters
DescriptionThis is something that has happened to me multiple times and is ~very~ frustrating to lose 300+ upgrade stones to. With many monsters not-uncommon physics glitches can cause you to get stuck inside the monster, at which point you are trapped in place until either the monster dies or you do. If you are moving about it can take a moment to realize this has happened, during which dying happens quickly.

This is most apparent with urban crawlers - often an automatic death sentence as they explode when killed - and with the new sea worms in the ocean shallows. Getting trapped in one of those is extremely deadly... and extremely common, since all it takes is moving towards one of them while they move towards you.

This is currently making "depth 3 in ocean shallows", already an incredibly hard unlock, basically impossible for me.

Is this solo or multiplayer? I've not had any other reports of getting stuck in monsters in the latest versions yet, and we have code in there specifically to separate you if you do. I may need to look at that code again, clearly, but are there any other details you can give me?

How are you getting stuck in the monsters in the first place? Just getting near them?

Multiplayer. Most commonly with regular monsters it happens when I storm dash (and I can usually get free), although I've also had a skelebot guard pin me against a wall - not fun. The urban predator happened when I tried to walk over it - my feet sunk into it and I was trapped.

With the sea worms either my or my other player have gotten trapped in one every single time we've made physical contact with it while it was moving towards us. Quite frustrating with how rare ocean shallows are in the first place - we only have one tile that is free of windstorm and about three sea worms are in a cluster within five steps of the entrance now. I suppose I could sit there invincible and wait for them to wander off; that hadn't occurred to me. But I am likely to get pounced again before I reach depth 3, and the only reason I've survived so far has been my proximity to the exit; my other player has been less lucky and died three times thus far.

Okay, awesome, that explains that. Definitely not seeing that in solo. Will have to think on that some for multiplayer, but there's basically a whole host of bugs with MP that we're working through at the moment. We'll add this one to the list -- thanks for bringing it to our attention!

Just FYI, Josh has been able to repro this and I'll look into it for tomorrow's release. This is something that only happens in multi, and I think I have a pretty good idea of what is causing it.

Actually, I have been getting this or something very similar in single-player as well. Should I provide a save file of my character the next time I get stuck inside an urban crawler?

As an addendum to this, I've noticed that if I enter a mission area that has a crashed landspeeder or an urban crawler in front of it, when I later exit the mission I will be stuck inside the monster. I've managed to survive by flailing about with five spells at once, but it is rather harrowing.

* Put in a fix that should prevent players from ever getting stuck in monsters (which was previously happening in MP in recent versions).
