Summary0006800: Get stuck in Mystery orbs
DescriptionAs you hit a mystery orb and it changes from one color to the next, it is possible to get stuck. The only way out is to hit them again, but it took me a bit to figure that out.

This was actually quite interesting, since it allowed me to access central orbs without using piercing or AoE spells.

It might be fun to have orbs that take 1 or 2 seconds to come back as the other color, could lead to some interesting puzzle rooms (kind of like Load Runner)

Was this in solo? What is your average sort of FPS if you turn that on?

Yes, solo. I get about 80 fps just standing still, and around 60 fps when lots of particles are flying.

I was trying to jump up and get a few that were in a narrow column, and moving right into them as I fired. I ended up stuck inside. I finally tried firing again, and that dropped me out.

I am totally serious that this should be a feature.

Okay, so you were jumping up when it happened -- that makes a lot more sense as to why it happened to you and not me.

I know you're serious about it being a feature, but right now I mainly want this to not be a bug, and a lode-runner-style feature would make more sense for later. This is one of those things that could lead to interesting other puzzle possibilities (so could tri-state puzzle pieces, for that matter), but the potential for unintended "hilarity" is just too high for now.

Hilarity, yeah. I did find it funny when I got stuck not 10 seconds into my first mystery room :)

Were you able to reproduce? It happens to me consistently.

I haven't tried yet; there were some much more serious bugs for tonight. But it's on my list for tomorrow, along with basically the same issue for urban crawler wheels.

This happened to me last night as well.

And... I haven't thought of Lode Runner in a LONG time. I shudder to think about the amount of time I spent with that game. :)

* Fixed both puzzle pieces and urban crawlers wheels so that they don't shrink and then re-grow into place when they change forms due to being destroyed by the player.
** This prevents several "getting stuck in them" issues, as well as just looks better in both cases.



When it comes to Lode Runner: The Legend Returns, that's one of my favorite games ever, by the way. It was the original inspiration for my unreleased game Alden Ridge. I used to make it a point to play at Lode Runner some at least once or twice a year, usually when it was snowing out. I guess I haven't played it since 2007, though.
