Summary0006908: Stop Sea Worms spawning indoors
DescriptionI have no issues with sea worms migrating to nearby regions, but when they spawn indoors too often you are essentially locked out of certain rooms as in low corridors there is no way you can do sufficient damage to kill them before they squeeze you into a corner.

This sounds like a great reason why lesser teleport would suddenly matter more. Once it, you know, actually works properly again. You can also use splashback on them, to knock them back while at the same time slowing them.

So, not a bug then Chris?

As it happens I do have lesser teleport for just these sort of situations, it's only it not working that has highlighted this as a problem.

My concern for that being the answer overall though is that teleporting around them doesn't help in NPC rescue missions, killing them barely helps there, perhaps just remove sea worms from spawning in them?

Attempting to use splash back on sea worms was actually what prompted me to bug report the fact that it doesn't work in 1-tile wide ladder areas. The worms like to block the bottom of the ladder. They can't get through, though, so they are easy to kill, just time consuming with their giant HP pool. And killing them is also complicated by the other reported issue of certain spells being tricky to fire down 1-tile wide gaps.

Well, lesser teleport now works again, and the interior ladders are now 2-wide instead of 1-wide. How does it seem now?

My take, in general, is that having some of the extra-hard monsters spawning in a variety of circumstances is a good thing. That's how we get the combinatorial interesting challenges like in AI War.

There's a reason why we cap the spire blade spawners lower, obviously, but at the same time the difficulty variance comes from the combinatorial nature of all these elements. So I'm reluctant to just remove them when they aren't outright-gamebreaking for a given mission or area.

Maybe having them removed from the rescue missions wouldn't be the worst thing, though.

I wanted to chime in one this, I had them in a lava escape mission 0.922 which thus made the mission impossible do to the narrow corridors and there massive health. I don't mind seeing them in missions but I have seen them pile up in one spot making it extremely hard to bypass an area.

I wouldn't mind seeing there spawn rate dropped outside of there regions. but I have to frantically run like a baby because of having 4-6 grouped together. In open areas they are OK but in narrow pathways ya not so much :(

They just have way too much health and I don't think it adds any fun.

I agree that these thing have too much health, though I haven't encountered them enough times to have a solid opinion yet. I think if they have lots of health, they need to have some other serious weakness to balance it out.
