Summary0008074: More variety in rescue missions
DescriptionCurrently, rescue missions get monotonous rather quickly, mainly because there are only two kinds of them. I would like to see a few more added. A couple possibilities:

Rescue Survivor from Dungeon:

We have located a dungeon containing several cages. A survivor is locked in one of them. Destroy cages until you find the survivor, but be warned: some of the cages contain powerful monsters (microbosses). After freeing the survivor, you and he/she/it must battle the jailer (a randomly chosen miniboss) before you can leave.

Rescue Survivor from Nightmare:

A survivor has been trapped in a pocket of warped space-time with several mysterious Nightmare Figments that prevent him/her/it from leaving. Nightmare Figments have low health, but they frequently spawn monsters when you are near them, and only the survivor can damage them. Hold the monsters at bay long enough for him/her/it to destroy the Nightmare Figments so that you can leave.

I'm iffy about the Nightmare Figments since the survivor may well end up going after all the monsters; this would get annoying fast. It'd be better to have the destruction work by having a timer count down when you're near enough with the survivor, to avoid getting annoyed with the survivor.

For the dungeon, I wouldn't want a miniboss spawning on survivor release, simply because protecting the survivor will likely be ridiculously hard in comparison to normal survivor rescue. Miniboss release on getting the wrong cage will make it the mission a succession of minibosses, though (effectively a random length boss tower), so I'd be inclined to add something; maybe have the minibosses be "doppelgangers" - minibosses that look like survivors as normal, and get a random selection of 3 - 4 player spells to use. I'd also suggest that a failed cage should give a hint to where the correct cage is; maybe it could tell you which quadrant from the cage (so between right and up, between right and down, between left and down or between left and up) the correct cage is, to help narrow it down.

This seems low priority as you has to do so few rescue missions in the first place -- three or so per continent, mostly. Aside from unlockables.

Well, if you're trying to get a level 5 survivor, there's a tradeoff between how hard you have to search for personality structures and how many survivors you rescue. Given the rarity of personality structures, this takes a very long time if you don't rescue any extra survivors.

Also, if I see a rescue room in a building, there's no way I'm going to sit back and let that person die.

Fair enough -- and sound morals. :)
