Summary0008261: Stat points and upgrades are out of whack
DescriptionBase mana varies in larger increments than base attack, but the upgrades are identical. So a character with high base mana is almost always "better" than a character with high base attack.

Yea, there was a very large refactoring of how base stats, stat points, and stat upgrades interact to give the final effective stat. Although it was better than it was, as you point out, there is still more tweaking to be done to get it well balanced.

It's not quite that simple because mana upgrades affect mana regeneration as well as base mana. So if you take a character with low base mana and upgrade mana, you'll have higher mana regeneration than if you take a character with high base mana and upgrade attack. (Unless the high mana character is from Time of Magic, but then you have to weigh the 30% mana regeneration against the other century-specific bonuses.)

Some sort of secondary effect given with upgrading attack may help make it more competitive with upgrading mana.

A slight ROF increase maybe?
Or does the mana regen bonus given by upgrading mana need to be nerfed even further?

Thanks!

* Characters that get extra magical attack points now get 15% per point rather than 10% per point. The upgrade enchants still work at 10%, but this gives high-attack characters more of an edge compared to their high-mana counterparts.

If further changes seem needed, let's talk about them potentially in the forums.
