Summary0008591: Wll o' the wisp + Boss = Too Hard
DescriptionI was fighting a Lieutenant that was a Green Amoeba, in a room with lots of open space. Ordinarily, this is a challenging proposition all by itself. On this occasion, however, the majority of the random monsters available for seeding appeared to be Will o the Wisps. Normally, they are a cool change-up, but in this case they were completely brutal. They frequently dragged me into the path of storms of mini-green amoebas, and eventually happened to time it right so that they dragged me right on top of the Lieutenant, who proceeded to melee me to death. Not Fun.

If I had even 5% of my normal maneuverability while affected by a Wisp, I would be able (albeit with difficulty) to do something to avoid such guaranteed-fatal situations. Being completely unable to affect my own movement feels overly harsh.

Yeah, this enemy is brutal. My tactic for dealing with them is to take advantage of their abnormally large aggro range to detect them from really far away, then throw a creeping death their way. Some other enemies also have long aggro ranges, yes, but... They can kill you in short order, so you have to be constantly wary of them. On TCO they kill you in just a couple seconds or less, and even otherwise they prevent you from moving and everything else kills you. The worst scenario is when you haven't realized they absorb light spells, so their extremely low HP turns out to be effectively infinite-until-you-die if you use light against them.

Enough ranting about the enemy though, they are too strong to allow in boss rooms in their current state. Maybe also disable them spawning at monster nests as well, one of these suddenly spawning is a lot bigger of a deal than something else. Alternatively nerf the enemy in some way.

Will-o'-the-wisp microbosses are even worse. It doesn't take too long to kill normal will-o'-the-wisps once you see them, but it takes much longer to kill microbosses, and if they're alive when you reach them, it's pretty much instant death even on a moderate difficulty level. If you're in an umbra vortex mission with multiple will-o'-the-wisps and some other microbosses, you might as well just hit Abandon Character.

(I haven't tested teleport against them, but even if that works, I don't like the extent to which teleportation is becoming mandatory, given that this is supposed to be an open-ended game where each challenge has several possible solutions.)
