However, the actual names of these professions (that were used back when you needed them for guardian powers, and at least some of which still appear in the descriptions of the respective buildings) are Apothekinetics, Aquaurgy, and the Forgical Arts. | ||||

Yes, I know; I was waiting for someone to comment on that. But basically it's all different uses of the word. Kind of like how fire truck is supposed to be hyphenated when used as an adjective. Saying "fire truck red" is not proper, but "fire-truck red" is. But saying "that's a fire-truck" is wrong. Okay, odd example, but somewhat similar. In this case we have the name of the profession and the name of the practicioners, which are well established as you not. The Forgical Arts are practiced by Forgicians. But what these books are describing is "the art/science of performing the profession." For programming, that's still programming. For carpentry, carpentry. But if you're a priest, your profession is the priesthood and yet you go to divinity school. Okay, another weak example. But I know there are some other examples of similar things out there IRL, and that's what I was going for. |
