Summary0009003: Remove monsters from 'Defend Supply Depot' missions
DescriptionI find these missions to be hard enough already. I think I wouldn't have quite as hard a time if I could just concentrate on the meteor storm, and destroying/deflecting its meteors.

On a side note, this would also be a first step towards having missions (perhaps even entire regions?) that aren't combat-centric, which may be entirely monster-free.

the monsters are there to supply health of you get hit by the meteors too often.

^ True, except the health they give is very little; meteors damage you a lot; and the monsters themselves can damage you. That's besides the monsters making the mission more complicated.

Despite how hard they seem, I haven't failed one yet, although I suspect there might be some combination of random variables that make it impossible to win. And even if I meet one of those, I still won't be in favour of making the mission simpler overall by removing all monsters from it.

Edited for grammar.

The monsters keep it interesting. If it were just nailing meteors, I could storm dash and hit the first 30 meteors, then afk for the last few. It would get repetitive, boring and easy very quickly.

^Really? I don't seem very good at getting rid of the meteors. Do you destroy them, or do you find it pretty easy to make them not hit anything important? Is the trick to hit the meteors on their sides?

(I get the feeling that this is turning into a 'please help me figure out how to do supply depot missions better' thread.)

How about removing monsters from them on the lowest (maybe also the 2nd-lowest) difficulty?

Jump/double jump, fireball/ball lightning, and the meteors are knocked way off course.

Alternatively, stack huge amounts of attack damage, and just destroy them. With a contemporary NPC, I can three-shot meteors with Orb -> Lightning -> Orb, and the lightning knocks it back so that I have more time to break it.

Hitting the meteors from the sides works when pressed for time, but only if there are no supply depots on the side you're hitting it to. I recommend Fireball for a fast-rate knockback spell.

Also, Haste enchants like Overload are very useful in case you miss. A second shot more quickly is always useful.

I do these missions with a double-jump/fireball combo and I honestly find them to be rather easy.

I don't make a huge effort to hit every meteor, I will concentrate mostly on one side, and later focus on the depots that have lost the most health.

I never try to destroy the meteors, it's simple enough to just knock them away from their targets in one hit. You want to try to hit them orthogonal to their velocity.

I tend to use something strong to smite the monsters, and one of the whip type spells to knock the meteors off course.

The only problem I find is with the monsters that pre-spawn in the mission. Particularly if they are dread gazebos or those miasma spewing ships. Doubly so if these spawn against a wooded backdrop (destroying a gazebo deals collateral damage against the background, dropping plums, walnuts, cherries or wooden logs which then hamper your movement as your character insists on gathering them).
