Summary0009084: Not quite sure what's wrong with this new planet
DescriptionI'm not sure what this is and if it's something the most recent patch may have fixed, but the planet in this screenshot has some weird purple graphics artefacts on it. It looked pretty much exactly as it does in the image in-game.

Other than that, by the way, that is a very cool spacescape.

Glad you like it! And yep, the latest version fixes that. :)

I'm afraid I've seen this one again in 5.051. Uploading another picture

Would you mind uploading your save so that we can look into this?

Sure thing! It's at Yiasnowu, the middle one of my three worlds. It looks pretty much the same after quitting and reloading. Am on a 2009 MacBook Pro with default graphics setup.

Yeah, I've seen another on the main screen. Would it help to upload another screenshot?

I've sent this to Chris. Hopefully he's got enough to fix it now.

To be honest, this looks like some sort of GPU or shader error the more I look at it. I've uploaded an image that shows what I am seeing. It's possible that there's a bug in your particular driver version or version of directX that is causing something unexpected.

Are you on OSX or Windows? I've only tested this on Win7.

I'm on Windows 7 (32 bit), X.
Don't know my graphics card or driver version offhand.

Okay -- hmm. If you get a chance to update your driver to the latest version, that _may_ solve the problem. Or, if you have an ATI card, it might make things worse. :/

I'll check.

Anything I could do on a Mac? I have a slightly old OS (Snow Leopard) but am otherwise up to date.

Hmmm, that's really quite odd. I'm not sure. We'll probably need to add an option to disable the hsv shifts on planets for those of you who are having the problem. That would 100% solve the problem, and the planets would just be less varied in their color. It wouldn't affect the nebulae.

Actually, you know what? Let's do this instead:

* Changed it so that planets are no longer hue-shifted. This was causing artifacts on some client computers, and the added variety provided by the hue shifts was not substantial enough to be worth the planets looking markedly bad on some machines.

Thanks!
