Summary0009102: AI Neinzul regen chamber causes really stupid behavior
DescriptionSo I just faced an early wave of about 700 Neinzul youngster ships, and I was dismayed that almost 200 got away to become threat. But then, a minute later, they started trickling back into my system four or five ships at a time, letting me pick them off easily --- which seemed like a seriously stupid use of threat ships until I realized that they were trying to get to a regen chamber on another AI world. Looking at the map, they could have got to the same place without passing through my space with three jumps, but they're evidently choosing to go through my space because it's only two. I think this pathfinding should be improved a little --- at least enough to let them attempt to convoy through my space, but ideally to go around it; if they're heading for a regen chamber they're definitely damaged enough not to be much of a threat to me. Surely, also, the AI could be a bit more clever about powering down its Neinzul ships.

Anyway I think this could be exploited to remove a huge part of the threat from Neinzul ships; ideally now I want to keep a regen chamber on a captive neutered world and snipe any others I see near my territory, right?

EDIT: I'm not sure if I made this clear, but I think the biggest problem is that fleeing ships have pretty much normally distributed amounts of health, so they attrition down to the regen-chamber point over a long time and they wind up coming into my system in a very spread-out, unthreatening way. Also, forgot to attach a save I made for illustration -- this is after about half of the threat has already been dissipated, but they're still trickling in.
