DescriptionI have been unsuccessful in isolating a specific use case to cause this bug to appear reliably, so few details of precise bug reproduction cannot be provided.

I seem to experience the issue especially with left-alt, when used to alt-tab out of the game, even when clicking on the application in the taskbar(and not alt-tabbing) back into the game. Because of this, even though the key is not being held down, the game believe it is and can create disruption of other input tasks.

Quickly tapping stuck modifier key will fix issue, but could be confusing if it were to trouble a first-time player attempting tutorials and not being able to follow inputs.

Use case found:
-During gameplay, whether game is paused or not, alt-tab out of game and then return to game via any means.
-Returning to game, note that the cursor displays no modifier
-Enter build menu via [B] key
-Select any unit affected available for mass-placement(engineers/sci labs/turrets)
-Click to drop 'single' unit
-Unit will be mass-placed and only then will cursor update to warn you that, in this case, [Alt] has been registered, even though the hard key is not depressed and the game has not been displaying it's understanding of the input state.

Due to much larger potential disruption: in one test case I came back and went to shift-drop 3 new engineers and ended up with a field of them instead, none able to be drag-selected but had to be manually selected before deletion - had it been high-level turrets it would have tanked my economy; elevated ticket from low/tweak to normal/minor.

Hint for next time: if you want to drag select non military units then press control when selecting and you can click on them on selection list to have only them selected.

Note that the cursor requires that the key have been held down for something like 4-6 seconds before the alert starts showing up. Most likely that's all you were running into, if you were switching back and forth quickly. As far as the core complaint goes, unfortunately, it's just out of our hands, as the related issues note.
