Summary | 0011211: Healthbars on units
Description | As far as I can tell, there's no way to "at a glance" get an idea of how much health a unit has without mousing over it. I've two different suggestions of how to help that (configurable of course) 1. Health bars under units. Underneath their feet, have a little health bar. Max green is full health, slowly filling red as they take damage. 2. Numeric health values under units. Basically the same thing, But show it as X/Y health under the units feet. Something similar to this for showing attack power could be useful as well. Again, as an option that can be enabled/disabled.

Health bar seems like a good idea. You can get a quick at-a-glance overview of any units in trouble then. |
Moreover, this is how most strategic/4x game handle this issue. I relaunched a Civ5 game to see this in effect ; this would really be useful! |
I think that this feature would interact perfectly with the "damage tooltip text" shown above the unit, at least if a small pause could be added at the end of a Unit Action, as described on the linked issue. |
Good idea; I normally find myself drowning in too many popups to get a feel of what needs to be done/who's winning. |

Thanks! * Buildings that are damaged now show a big health bar, and units that are damaged now show a little health bar. ** This actually adds a surprising amount to the game, because now the damage that units take can be represented this way rather than those stupid popup messages all over the place (although you can toggle them back on if you really like them). ** This also makes it much easier to tell which buildings to repair, etc. |
