* For the first time, you can actually give direct orders to your engineers, rebuilders, etc to assist specific units: rebuilding them, repairing them, or permanently sticking around to boost their build queue. ** If you explicitly tell an engineer to assist a space dock or starship constructor, it will keep hanging out there to boost that unit FOREVER, until the target of assistance is dead or you give them other orders. *** THAT said, unlike the first game, if there is nothing to boost on that target at the moment (dock has an empty queue, potentially because unit caps are hit), then the engineers will maintain position while repairing or boosting other things instead, while immediately switching back to boosting the dock as soon as it is able to do anything. *** This is actually a lot more flexible/useful than the first game, but in general the logic is the same when you want to have "engineers that perma-boost a dock" for speed purposes. |
