Summary0001992: Cannot seem to reclaim Zenith Elec Bombers
DescriptionHey there, had a MkI-III capfleet of Spire Teleport Leaches... And I couldn't get a Zenith Elec Bomber despite them not being noted immune. Seriously, had several in a row utterly singled out and focus-fired with no other ships firing on them.

I suspect they may not be the only ship, but a large wave of them on a friend of mine made that one very blatant. They were MkI, so my MkI-III... This was on 4.48... so...

Hmm, do yo have a save we can use to duplicate this? That does sound fishy.

Chris, what happens if MkI parasites do 75% of the damage to a MkIII target, and MkIII parasites do the other 25%?

I can't seem to reproduce it single-player. Occured in a 3p mp game I don't have the save to. Will test again and get a save when we next resume.
While testing in SP I did have ONE ship not reclaim. Out of like 20. Coulda been hit by some of the Z Bombards I'd capped in the process though this time XD

I actually manged to single one out with a just My MkIII's and it didn't succeed either at the time. (When I ran into the issue in the mp game, that is.)

Just updating.

I cannot seem to produce this reliably--but I am experiencing it in random intervals. It is NOT a spesific ship. Randomly leached ships are just not leaching.

I just killed 2 Z Elec Bombers from full health with JUST Tele Leaches. The first one did not become mine, the second did. Some of what I thought was this bug was just me being capped out though... But decidedly not all.

I am trying to find a way to make it immediately reproducible.

Okay. I think I've figgured it out...

To reclaim ships now a reclaimer ~absolutely has to be~ the ship to make the kill... AND do 50%+ damage from reclaiming sources... This means one stray opportunistic shot (quite frequent unless fielded ENTIRELY alone) ruins an ENORMOUS amount of effort on the leach/parasite group's part.
It seems that the automatic firing code for your other ships may have gotten too opportunistic in combination with the newer reclaim mechanic... XD... Not to mention Spire Teleport Leaches currently low-seeming damage. (My next item of investigation...)

Not quite sure what to say on this... It sometimes happens ~alot~. I've gotten 0 reclaimed ships out of waves due to a decent number of turrets plucking all the kills... And other times a reasonable share of the stuck forces.

Perhaps since we now have to do at least 50% of the damage... After 50% mark for reclaim for some duration? Refreshed by continuing fire from reclaimers, of course? Just a thought...

I am not 100% sure this is all causing it to be hard to reclaim ships at times. I merely ran into this while trying to figure it out... One Z-Bombard I had captured stole another Z-Bombard I was capturing from its MASSIVE full distance away. -.-... The leaches of course decided the target was no longer of interest rather than shooting it so that their far closer shots would terminate it first...

I still swear I've had this happen with absolutely no other ships in the area in MP... But lack the people to try it under the lag MP induces xD... and this situation WAS reproducible under some context...
Prehaps it was just hard for me to spot the 1-2 sneaky shots from a rogue friendly ship...

And my worries about the leech changes were justified.
I knew something like this would happen. 50% is such a high threshold for a unit that originally was "tag, you're it. tag you're it. tag you're it" to suddenly needing DPS to do "their thing." And then the DPS was out DPSing the DPSers...and now this.

The "must be the one to deliver the killing blow" thing sounds like a bug, if that's really what is going on. Otherwise, this sounds like it is working as intended. Do you have a save we can use for testing this out?

Uploaded a save with a ridiculously easy situation to attack a Z Bombard with leaches until its at a sliver of health, then finish off with fleet ships.

Definitely doesn't EVER reclaim if killed by a non-reclaimer despite taking as much as in one case 98% of its damage from my teleport leaches. That said, I figured it was balance not bug since their description says "Reclaims ships it kills" at this point...

Balance issue, definitely with the now-requiring 50% damage too.
